King patronizes Jordanian Judicial Conference, launches takaful fund

His Majesty King Abdullah II patronized on Monday the second Jordanian Judicial Conference and witnessed the launch of a social takaful fund for judges and their aides.
President of Judicial Council Rateb Al Wazani said the King has instructed the government to take what is needed to establish the fund, which will contribute to supporting judges and improve their living and social standards.
He also announced the inauguration of the "Judicial Sector Development Strategy for 2010-2012", with the participation of Jordanian judiciary, ministers of justice, heads of supreme courts and experts from Arab and foreign countries.
The new strategy will be debated during the two-day event, currently being held at the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center.
Wazani said "We seek to address the reasons of violence against women and children because of this issue's importance in the community stability.
" The number of judges in Jordan has reached 750, including 48 female judges, he said, adding that another 20 female judges will be employed this year, after graduating from the Judicial Institute of Jordan.
He added that the "Judges of the Future" program, which is patronized by His Majesty the King, is developing steadily in cooperation with Ministry of Justice, noting that the number of students currently studying within the program reached 166.
The opening session was attended by Prime Minister Samir Rifai, Royal Court Chief Nasser Lawzy, King's Advisor Ayman Safadi, a number of ministers and senators, foreign envoys and high-ranking officials.
