| Business |
Minister of Industry and Trade Amer Hadidi on Monday discussed with Indian Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia, scopes of promoting economic cooperation between the two countries.
Hadidi briefed his Indian counterpart on Jordanian legislation to create attractive investment climate in the Kingdom, pointing to a number of agreements the Kingdom had signed with several countries to boost bilateral trade exchange.
"The Jordanian market has many advantages that make the Kingdom an investment magnet and an important gate for Indian goods into Iraq," he added.
The Indian minister expressed his country's keenness to bolster cooperation in the next period, noting that His Majesty King Abdullah II visit to India four years ago had paved the way for further increasing cooperation in various fields.
The two sides agreed to set up a committee to draw up a working plan to shore up cooperation especially in pharmaceuticals, rail and automotive industries, energy and information technology.
India is one of Jordan's main trading partners as official data showed that Delhi imported JD464 million worth of Jordanian goods last year.
Indian's imports from Jordan included Potash, Phosphate, Iron, lead, and chemical products.
The value of the Kingdom imports from India amounted to nearly JD197 million in the same year.
