Palestinian in the West Bank city of Hebron early Monday, declared a general strike in protest over the Israeli plan to add two Palestinian holy sites to its national heritage list.

Confrontations and clashes erupted during the strike between Palestinians and the Israeli troops after Israeli decision to add Hebron's Ibrahimi Mosque and Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem to its national heritage list.

Mayor of Hebron Khaled Osaily told Petra reporter in Ramallah that a state of anger prevails in the city over this racist decision which can only push the region into more violence.

Osaily called on Arab and Islamic nation to immediate measures to stop Israeli aggression and attacks on the Islamic sanctities in Palestine.

This decision is an act of aggression against the cultural and religious rights of the Palestinian people, he added, especially as it comes in light of Israel's continued blatant aggression against Al Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.
